In tranferring from my LA clinic to Western Pacific It quickly became apparent that this was not your average clinic. To begin with, rather than see themselves as another place an addict can go get methedone, they identify as a treatment center. This already sets them apart from the rest. They offer a clean facility in a working class neighborhood of Glendale NOT what I've come to expect from places like this. They provide private counseling and require their clients to participate in them. They demand punctuality and accountability but do so in order to help instill in their clients the real-life need to be responsible citizens and to take part in their own recovery. This is not a rubber-stamp facility...I had to show them that I was willing to comply with their directives, including in my daily interactions with their staff. They were evaluating me as a potential client and this alone tells me why their facility is clean, safe and in a decent part of the city. Their caring doesn't start and stop at the door either. They actively created a bubble around their facility where there are no drug dealers, drug users or anyone else preying on the vulnerable trying to find recovery inside. They really care and it shows... I hope you find what I found at Western Pacific.
